Our Philosophy

Trouvaille Equestrian

is centered around a concept that marries “natural horsemanship”

with the more competitive disciplines of the hunter/jumper and dressage worlds.

To us, the term "natural horsemanship" focuses on the horse-man relationship

and we believe that all horses and riders can benefit from this way of thinking and training.

We think of "natural horsemanship" as

an intelligent, compassionate and less invasive method of horse training

which is rewarding for both partners.

One of our main goals is to help the horse feel comfortable in their training environment,

which means we look to the horse for guidance

on how fast or how slow we have to proceed to be successful.

Our background is in the hunter/jumper discipline,

but we embrace the teachings of all disciplines to make a well rounded equine and rider.

We strive to understand the natural behavior of the horse.

We believe that when we are aware of their surroundings and stimuli,

our reactions change because  we understand how things are seen by the horse.

When we take the time to respect a horse's natural behaviours,

it will increase our equine partner's trust, security, and mental state.

We also recognize that every horse and every human is different.

Our goal is to create a customized approach to each horse/rider partnership,

which will create a special bond and relationship within each combination.

We work with the riders and choose a path that works with the horse's natural behaviours and instincts

and encourage better communication between horse and human.

We want to provide an environment where riders can explore different methods of communicating with their horse and learn how to apply those principles to whatever their individual discipline may be.

At Fox River Farm, natural horsemanship also extends to the horse's environment

and caring for them in a way that supports their natural instincts.

We understand that foraging for food or enjoying the comfort and safety of a herd are all important pieces in creating an environment where stress-free learning can help our horses to be successful.

We let the horse just be a horse, as much as they can be in a domesticated environment.

However, we recognize that every horse is unique and we tailor our care to each horses individual needs.

We feel that a combination of horse knowledge and self-awareness helps us increase communication, trust and understanding, with the result being an overall better relationship with your horse.
